I hope you all had a great weekend. Who is ready for some SUNSHINE?!
Important Dates This Week:
ELA
Last week, students finished writing the first draft of their Peter Pan book reviews. This week students will prepare for a text-based discussion on Peter Pan, and revise and edit their book reviews for a final draft. On Wednesday, We begin Unit 3: Reading Like a Writer: Revising Scenes from Peter Pan. Students will be choosing a scene from Peter Pan that they feel needs to be revised, and re-write without changing the ending of the story.
Math
This week we continue to build conceptual knowledge of fractions. Last week we learned about unit fractions (one part of a whole) and this week we will explore fractions with numerators other than 1. In 3rd grade we only work with fractions with the denominators of 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8. Students will be learning to partition shapes evenly and create unit fraction models. Students will explore fractions with different size wholes.
Science
This week we will carry out an investigation to compare relative speeds of objects that travel the same distance in different amounts of time. We will explore balanced forces.
Vocabulary: force, push, pull, gravity, motion, speed, direction
Have a wonderful week!
