We had such a fun time at our field trip to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences last week! Photos will be added to the gallery soon.
Important Dates This Week:
ELA
This week students will begin by planning a conclusion to their "Freaky Frog" essays. They will then revise their essays and write a final draft to put into their Freaky Frog books. This week students will also create a front and back cover for their books, as well as a trading card!
Vocabulary: effectively, strategically, precise, physical, behavioral, adaptations, deters, revise, blurb, scientific diagram
Math
Last week students learned how to multiply multiples of 10 by single digit factors. (Example: 20 x 5 = 100). This week students will use their knowledge of multiples of 10 as well as multiplication properties and strategies to solve one and two step word problems.
Vocabulary: factor, multiply, equal groups, product, decompose, divide, partition, quotient, divisor, properties
Science
Students are learning the following key concepts through hands-on exploration and direct instruction:
Key Concept 1: Matter (solids, liquids, and gases) has structure and properties which can be determined by observation.
Key Concept 2: Matter can can change states (for example, heat transfer)
Vocabulary: structure, properties, matter, change, observable, states of matter, air, mass, solid, liquid, gas, melting, boiling, freezing, particles, energy, heat transfer, contact, energy waves, compare, summarize, recognize
Have a great week!
