Important Dates This Week:
What we are learning:
ELA
We will read through Chapter 10 of Peter Pan this week. Students are practicing close-reading strategies, such as using context clues to determine the meaning of unfamiliar vocabulary. Students are also practicing identifying character traits and distinguishing their own point of view from the author's or characters' point of view.
During team time, we are reading a Literary Classic, Matilda by Roald Dahl. We are practicing summarizing and how chapters build on each other.
Math
We take our unit assessment on Reasoning with Shapes and their Attributes on Monday. On Tuesday we begin a new unit: Applying the Operations to Area and Perimeter. In this unit, students will apply their knowledge of multiplication facts to solve area word problems. It is more important than ever for students to keep practicing those facts! :-)
Social Studies
We continue our Economics unit this week. A letter is included in the green folder describing our upcoming Regional Economics Fair. Please read.
3.E.1 Understand how the location of regions affects activity in a market economy.
3.E.2 Understand entrepreneurship in a market economy.
Have a wonderful week!
