I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things for our first full week back after a long break! We are hitting the ground running this week with mid-year mClass testing and a field trip, amongst other events. Please, please, please make all efforts to ensure students are on time to school this week!

English Language Arts:
This week students will use research they completed last week on either the Glass Frog, Water-Holding Frog, or Amazon Horned Frog to plan and draft an informational essay on their frog's unique adaptations.
Vocabulary: purpose, introduction, physical adaptations, behavioral adaptations, special, unique, survive, predator, habitat, prey
Math:
This week in math students will apply multiplication and division strategies they have learned, as well as prior knowledge of addition and subtraction strategies to solve two-step word problems. Please encourage students to continue practicing their multiplication facts at home.
Vocabulary: factor, multiply, equal groups, product, divide, partition, measurement, quotient, divisor, dividend, properties
Science:
We begin a new unit in science this week: "Matter: Structure, Properties, and Change." Students will learn the following key concepts through hands-on exploration and direct instruction:
Key Concept 1: Matter (solids, liquids, and gases) has structure and properties which can be determined by observation.
Key Concept 2: Matter can can change states (for example, heat transfer)
Vocabulary: structure, properties, matter, change, observable, states of matter, air, mass, solid, liquid, gas, melting, boiling, freezing, particles, energy, heat transfer, contact, energy waves, compare, summarize, recognize
